A popular MasterChef star and TikTok influencer has been killed in a car crash in her native Mexico. Yanin Campos, 38, reportedly lost control of her SUV while driving in her hometown of Chihuahua on Saturday and slammed into a parked car. Images from the scene show Campos's vehicle mangled from the impact. She was taken to a nearby hospital but died from her injuries two days later. 'To our family and friends, we inform you and mourn the passing of my sister, Yanin Campos,' he wrote. 'The wake is at the Hernandez Funeral Home for those who would like to say goodbye and join us.' Although she placed sixth in the 2018 season of MasterChef Mexico, Campos was later invited back to compete on MasterChef: La Revancha in 2019. Authorities say the deadly accident occurred around 6.30am on Saturday along the Francisco R Almada highway. Campos was behind the wheel of a black GMC Terrain when she reportedly veered off course and collided with a stationary vehicle. Emergency responders transported her to Hospital del Parque, where she remained in critical condition until she passed away in the ICU on Monday night. Local police have opened an investigation to determine what led to the crash. Yanin had built up a sizable TikTok following, with nearly 100,000 fans tuning into her content. Her last Instagram post, shared in April 2023, featured her posing by a classic red telephone box and Big Ben during a trip to London. She accompanied it with the simple, heartfelt caption: 'Taking a stroll.' Since news of her passing broke, fans have been paying tribute to her in the comments, sharing heartfelt memories and condolences. One user wrote: 'I just heard about the news and how sad, so young and beautiful, we met her for her participation in MasterChef, but it certainly hurts to think that a 38 year old woman left like that. 'I don't know her family, but I hope God sends them a quick resignation. Rest in peace, Yanin.' Another message read: 'Thank you for your passion in cooking and for such good chapters in MasterChef. Fly high!' A third follower added: 'I can't believe this, I followed you since you were on MasterChef, you always seemed genuine, plus you said the right things. A hug to heaven, rest in peace.'
